thought i'd go back to the 80's for a bit

this is what i looked like when i woke up this morning.

i know. its pretty frightening. :)

i have to say, my dad is really amazing. i've been playing around with my blog backgrounds all morning and i found one that i finally liked. my dad saw it and said "i don't like the red" and then he did all this cool stuff because he's a total computer genius and the red background and hearts were pink and it looked way good. but, it wouldn't apply to my blog very good. i could only see it from my computer because the image that he used was on this computer. it didn't show up when my mom went to my blog on her laptop. he explained to me how i can fix that and make all work and stuff, but i just decided to use a different background. but, even though the whole pink background didn't work out, i have to say that i'm really impressed by my dad. it was cool that he went through and changed all that stuff using his amazing computer skills. and he was being all artistic which i've never seen! haha it was fun. so thank you daddy for doing that even though i decided not to use it, and thanks for everything else you do for me! i love you!

amberly for VP, amberly for mommy

so, this year, because of my astounding grades and wonderful service, i get to be in the national honor society, aka the NHS. this is great for me because it gives me all sorts of opportunities for scholarships and whatnot. today was the first official meeting of the NHS. all we did was nominate and vote on the presidency. so all of a sudden i was nominated for VP by my wonderful friend elissa. after a quick vote, you are now reading the blog of the PGHS NHS VP. um, random.

i am currently at a babysitting job right now. i know. i'm a junior in high school and i'm babysitting on a friday night. i swear, i have a social life, but i like these kids and they are the only ones who call me to babysit. since i have to pay 250$ for choir tour still, i figured i should take every money making opportunity i can get. :) the kids are in bed so i'm taking the next three hours of waiting for their parents to get home to blog.

i totally like babysitting. i love kids so much. i can't wait to be a mom. BUT, i am very very glad that i still get to have 5 or 6 years of my life without having kids. over fall break i babysat some kids for 3 days while their parents were in CA and i seriously thought that i could never be a mom and i cried ALOT. it was bad news. but, these kids tonight are not the ones that i watched for 3 days and this whole night i have been sort of thinking about mom-hood and myself as a future mom.

the kids i am watching tonight are all three adopted. the oldest two are from the marshall islands and are so cute. the 10-month-old is from hawaii and he is SOOO adorable. i just want to eat his chubby little cheeks! these kids are easy to babysit. we played a little some star wars game cube game while i fed the baby his bottle, then we had mac-and-cheese for dinner.

side note. i have inherited a total sweet tooth from my fantastic grandma horsely. so the kids wanted ice cream for dessert and i dished it out and pulled out an ice-cream sandwich for myself. what started out as an ice-cream sandwich ended up as much more than that. 2 scoops of ice cream, with my ice-cream sandwich cut into pieces all over it, plus oodles of raw cookie dough that was just chillin in the fridge, plus chocolate syrup, plus whipped cream. yuck. i feel nauseous just thinking about it. when i was half-way done eating it, i thought to myself, "there is no way i will be able to finish this". don't worry, i totally did. and i wonder why i've gained weight since i stopped running. mmmm it was worth every calorie though!

anyway, basically we just watched prince caspian and while the older kids watched it i fed the baby again, (he's a porker by the way. future enormous Samoan football player)and put him to bed. then it was to bed with the kiddies too. and now i am here.

while i was juggling making dinner, cleaning up hot chocolate spills, dishing out those gerber-baby-graduates-banana-flavored-puff-things to porky, playing diplomat, and scarfing my face on unhealthy dessert, i just felt like a little mommy. it didn't scare me exactly, but it just made me appreciate motherhood i guess. i don't really know how to describe it. but i am very grateful to motherhood in general and my mom in particular. sometimes i wonder "how the HECK" am i going to be able to be a mom someday? that is ALOT of responsibility on my shoulders. i don't want to mess up." but, the great thing is is that all i will be able to do is my best and then everything else will be compensated for.
ah, life. what does it have in store for me?

school school school

so, when you are in high school, high school is your life. we spend 5 1/2-6 hours a day here, and then most of us have extracurricular things that bring us back to school. not to mention the basketball games, concerts, fundraisers etc etc etc that bring us back yet again. you get the point, school is my life!
this week has been the first week of the new semester. yes my friends, only 1 and 1/2 semesters left of my public education and then its off to college! so far this, my junior year, i have been able to maintain a 4.0 both terms. last year was the same except for 3rd term which we won't talk about. i got at 28 on the ACT and i'm going to do everything in my power to get a 33 before i start applying for college. i'm working on scholership opportunities. you could say that i'm lining up my ducks. i want to go to BYU so badly. everything is starting to work out for my next years schedule. i'll have 2 choir classes again, seminary, AP english, AP music, possibly AP bio. NO AP calculus which makes me happier than you can even believe! ummm, sign language, and some other random credits that i need.
here's the thing. 3rd term is seriously the worst time of year for many reasons; firstly, the weather is horrible, its been winter for how many months, i am super sick of school, everything just seems to be harder for some reason and all sense of motivation is gone.
thankfully, school isn't too bad. my grades are good, i like my friends and they are great influences for me. i get the great chance to participate in something that i LOVE, choir. school is such a HUGE part of my life so i love that i have things that make it enjoyable.
that is school in a nutshell i guess. such a huge part of life and yet i don't have much to say about it. :P GO VIKINGS!

honor chor part 2

well, my mom already blogged about MY experience, but i decided to anyway. :)
yesterday was a very long day of singing. rehearsal started up again at 9am and went til 12. then we had to be at my school by 1:45 to get on a bus that took us to the provo tabernacle. we got to rehearse with the brass. then we went to the provo mall for dinner. the performance was at 7. it was a really cool experience. it was very exhausting though. i came home and went to bed at 10:30 and didn't wake up until 11 this morning. i love having church at 1.
me and rachel

oh janice, the reason we are wearing different looking dresses is that the people who were in the choirs are from lots of different schools. there were 8 schools that did it, and each school has like 32 people. we all had to wear our schools outfits. i guess every other school is just lame and wears black but we are vikings and we rock so we get to wear blue. if you look close you can see that there are lots of different dresses.
it was a seriously amazing experience working with doctor jessop. he almost had me convinced to go to school up at utah state because he is the music director up there. then my better judgement kicked in. (sorry cox's and ruthie!)
anyway, it really was fun although it was tiring. i'm glad to get chances to do things like that because it really gives me a chance to learn incredible things about music etc. good times!

honor chor part 1

i just got home from 4 hours of singing. the rehearsal for this district honor choir started at 3:30 at AF high school, we sang until 5:30--actually, it ended up being 5:50 when we finished that rehearsal--then we ate dinner and at 7:30 we started rehearsing again. after dinner, we were able to have craig jessop direct us. he is an amazing amazing musician and teacher and person. oh wow. in the 2 hours that he worked with us, i learned so much about music and voice and choral performance. it was INCREDIBLE! its fun to get together with 200 students who are at the same level as we are and sing songs that we have been learning. and they are not easy songs either! most of my christmas break was spent listening to those dang songs and doing my best to memorize them. the performance is tomorrow at the provo tabernacle at 7:00 and i am super excited for it.
tomorrow will be a very long day of singing with rehearsal starting at 9am. i love doing stuff like this. its such an amazing experience, although a VERY exhausting one!

what an amazing director!

hump day

i was reading my 7th grade yearbook a couple of nights ago and there was this little blurb about the day wednesday. it said that wednesday is the "hump day" of the week which i thought just sounded really funny. maybe my brain shouldn't be going in that direction, but, there you go.
i do like wednesday though "hump day" and all. after today there is only two days left of the week, and only one more B day. this makes me very happy.
some other good things about wednesdays;
its the "good" chicken sandwich at school.
LOST is on TV (starting soon!)
it really is the best day to have mutual. i wish ours was on wednesday. well, today it is but usually it is one thursday.
there's just something about the middle of the week that is fantastic!
ok so that was a pathetic list. oh well.
in other news, i had my term math test today. yikes. i'm scared.
i also presented my chemistry project today. whoopee.
i have traffic school tomorrow! not so excited about that fact, but very excited about the fact that my awesome seminary teacher also has to go! that will be quite entertaining.
this weekend i am participating in a district honor choir with craig jessop as the director. ya, cool! its going to be such an awesome experience!
sorry about all the super random posts lately! how annoying. well, nothing of importance has been happening lately. :P
so long for now!

100th post

well, this is a significant moment! 100 posts!
i don't really have anything to say today. i could say 100 random things about myself but i really don't want to.
lets see. today was the first day back at school. blah. thankfully it was a fairly easy day. nothing important. i wish i could say the same about next B day. i have my term math test which is basically like an exam and i have to present my chemistry science project that i did over the break. oodles and oodles of fun i know. but! great news! tomorrow is an A day and i seriously love those more than life.
uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
its just been one of those days you know? like it hasn't been bad, not at all. but its just been one of those days and i can't wait to just go to bed.
plus its snowing
and my tummy hurts
and i have to finish my science project still.
now i'm just griping.
HAPPY! :P
