10 reasons why... part 2

being a girl is rockin! (in no particular order)

10. girl clothes are mucho more cuter than boy clothes

9. girls don't feel some inane need to prove that they are "tough"

8. when you are little like me, lots of people feel the need to "help" you, or "protect" you, especially boys, especially STRONG boys. i actually really love this aspect of girlhood.

7. painting finger and toenails is really fun. and it looks cute.

6. girls mature faster; mentally, emotionally, spiritually, physically.

5. girls are smarter.

4. earrings are quite fun to buy, wear, etc.

3. girls have a higher tolerance for pain and are much tougher.

2. i've heard that being a mommy is worth periods, cramps and birth.

1. its weird for boys to pluck thier eyebrows, but plucked eyebrows look much better than nonplucked eyebrows.

10 reasons why...

boys don't know how lucky they are in no particular order...

10. when its windy and cold outside (like right now) they don't have to worry about their skirts being blown into their faces because they get to wear pants to church.

9. swimsuit shopping is SO much easier for them!

8. they don't have to shave their legs or their armpits. not fair.

7. stupid girl hormones!

6. girls are so much more emotional than guys.

5. the "healthy" % body fat for guys is like 7%. for girls its like 20%.

4. they eat and eat and eat and eat and don't get fat. (well, i don't get FAT, but still)

3. no bloody periods. nuff said.

2. no CRAMPS. ditto.

1. they do not have to pluck their eyebrows. i HATE plucking my eyebrows with every bit of hate that i posses!

sometimes i think that guys do not understand just how lucky they are!

back into life

i thought that it would be really hard to come home to utah after my fabulous trip to california, but the adjustment was actually really easy. thank goodness! the weather here was AMAZING last week, mostly in the 60s and 70s which is how it was in california. i loved that! school was actually not too too stressful, which suprised me because it was the last week of the term. and, (shockingly) i pulled off a 4.0 for third term! ya baby!

this week has been a little of the abismal side due to the fact that it has been snowing, and raining, and cloudy and cold again. :( it is good to know, however, that spring really is right around the corner, its practically here!

tomorrow i have a region choir festival and after that, i finally get to put my stressful accompianing songs to rest.

and this puts all things stressful in my life down to a dull roar compared to the overwhelming tidal wave i've been experiencing. my coping skills are being tested.

one more thing; this is a shoutout to my fabulous aunt janice who i would be going out to visit RIGHT NOW. :( i wish i was coming out there janni! i love ya and can't wait to see you again. hugs and kisses! (well, not really kisses because how weird would it be if i gave you a kiss eh janice? haha) try not to miss me too too much.
maybe someday i'll get to start posting about events again and not just random stuff. :)

choir tour part 2

i'll try to quickly post about the last three days of tour. friday and saturday we spent at disneyland! on friday morning we got to enter the park early and get ready to perform. we performed onstage in california adventures. it was a cool experience. the best part was that i got ahold of my great aunt maryann a couple of weeks before i went on the trip and told when and where i was performing and she came to watch! she took some great pictures and we got a second to talk afterwards. it was so good to see her!

the rest of friday was spent playing at the parks!

saturday was basically the same. we had a SUPER early performance time at a festival called "music in the parks" sponsored by disney (no pictures, sorry!) i should mention that i got the really great opportunity to be the one and only accompianist on this trip. i accompanied two songs ALWAYS and sometimes accompanied one more. so we did that festival in the morning, then hit the parks again. whitney and i went with different people than we had been with before which was fun and refreshing. at 5:00 we went to the mandatory awards ceremony that was held in disneyland for our festival that morning. our school took first place in all of our divisions! (not a hard thing to do since we were the only school competing in our divisions. ) when i thought the ceremony was over, i recieved a suprise when they called my name to come up and recieve an award as the outstanding festival accompianist! i got to go up on stage and hug mickey and minnie, and i got a medal. it was all very legit and flattering!

sunday morning i woke up with no voice and scratchy throat. unfortunatly, most of the people in choir all contracted this sickness. i didn't sing along with the choirs when we performed at church. it was great to go to a sacrament meeting in cali though. we quadroupled the size of their congregation with our choir. :) after church, we loaded up on the bus and drove home!
so that was my trip! it was so fun. i loved it. i'm still recovering from my "california virus" as we in choir are fondly calling it, but it was worth it. i was lucky because some people got REALLY sick. one kid got pnemonia. yikes!
monday afernoon (approx. 14 hours after we got home) we had our chamber festival. mr wilcock considered pulling us out because we were all so sick, but we decided that we might as well compete not doing our best, than not compete at all. so we did, and got straight superior ratings which means that we qualified to compete at the state level! it was a very exciting and satisfying moment!
yesterday was our concert and we did really well! i had to drop out of most of the songs at the high notes due to my lack of voice, but it was fun and there were no blaring mistakes anywhere.
wow that is alot of choir lately! it sort of took over my life for a bit. its great to be home and back into the swing of things. thanks for visiting my blog and reading about my crazy week! i hope you enjoyed it!

i'm home!

i'm home from california! a quick synopsis of the week;
we left the high school at around 9:00pm on tuesday night. it was a MISERABLE bus ride. i got about 2 hours of sleep and i was not comfortable among other things and it was just bad news. we took a stop and walked down hollywood boulevard which i really didn't like all that much. after hollywood boulevard, we went to the hollywood amphitheatre and took pictures there.

after that we went and ate at the farmers market and shopped for a bit;

after being away from home for about 18 hours, we FINALLY went to our hotel. we stayed in the Embassy Suites. SO NICE! it was beautiful. we were able to get changed and get ready for our workshop and dinner. the workshop was long, but we learned alot of good things. i was given some really great feedback on my accompianing skills which was very appreciated! for diner that night we were supposed to eat at a medevil times place but it fell through so we overwhelmed some poor unprepared (discusting) restaurant. i was VERY glad to go to bed that night!

the next day was sea world! we had a GREAT time. i touched sting rays! iloved shamu and the dolphin show. it was so so fun!

we rode on atlantis 3 times without getting off because there was no line. there weren't alot of people. it was fabulous! the picture that got snapped was hilarious!

oh gosh. this is alot! i'm going to have to do a part two because my computer has stopped uploading my billion pictures, but there is so much left to say! i didn't even get started into disneyland and with it, some awesome things! so stay tuned, i will finish this massive post soon!

its here!

well, this is it! in about four hours, i am heading back over to the high school and (theoretically) two hours after that we are heading out for california baby! I CAN'T WAIT!!!! i seriously need this break from school, WINTER, life in general so badly. its going to be a super fun trip. also, i got EVERYTHING done that i needed to. not only did i catch up on my school work, i got ahead. and i got my hair cut on saturday so its cute again! i'll admit i like it better when janice or ruth does it, but the girl at images salon did a good job. i didn't take pictures because my camera is packed. but don't worry, i will be posting lovely pictures from my trip when i get back; probably next monday. try not to miss me too much!

happy half birthday to me!

today is march 5th, and due to the fact that my birthday is september 5th, today is my half birthday. i am turning 18 in exactly 6 months! woa!
so, a little update on my life. i am leaving for california in 5 days!! the past couple of days have consisted of me frantically trying to figure out how i am going to make up what i am missing, working just a little, having almost no time to do anything, and thinking and stressing about where i should get my hair cut! it desperatly needs to be cut and my two favorite (and only) hairstylists are no longer living in places that i can call upon them! doesn't this all seem very stressful? you have no idea. today i had math, and it was semi-hard but i got most of the assignment done in class, then after school i went and learned the next TWO lessons and got those assignments. all of these need to be turned in the next time i go to math which thankfully is not til tuesday. i still feel a bit like i am drowning though! plus i have two chemistry assignments that are not what you could call "easy" but the main thing with those is that they take a long time. other than that i just have two quizzes for ap history to take online, i have to finish reading the count of monte cristo for english and somewhere in that time i HAVE to get my hair cut!
it stresses you out just to read all of this doesn't it? :)
BUT, once all of this is taken care of, all i have to worry about is having the best possible time on choir tour!
