piano lessons

Today is thursday which means that i teach aunt frances, marcus and mckayla piano lessons. i've been teaching them since the beginning of the school year or thereabouts and i am so extremely proud of them! i really can't even put into words how excited they make me! it is so fun to watch the progression from week to week. i love teaching my aunt frannie. she makes me laugh all the time. she seriously is doing so awesome and learning so fast and i can tell that she is pretty darn dedicated. she gets so frustrated at herself when she messes up and i always tell her that it is ok to mess up! she makes me so proud. marcus is cruising too. he quickly grasps everything that i teach him and applies it really well. mckayla suprises me every week! it was such a cool thing to be able to see when everything i was teaching her just clicked. now she counts like a pro and knows every note i've taught her.
along with the baldwins, i teach the hernadez kids on wed. arrie, kory and aaron. they are doing really well too. they didn't really like it when i said "i know you've never counted before but you are going to do it now" and it took a few weeks for them to warm up to that concept but they are awesome.
then there is my siblings of course. i admire them alot because they were really my learning experience as i was just figuring out what i was doing (sometimes i still wonder if i know what i am doing:)). for the most part, they have been really good sports about my mistakes as a teacher and i can really credit them for getting me to this point. i love teaching them even though they sometimes treat me like their sister not their teacher.
also, on monday i started teaching 3 kids in my ward, the bulpitts. they are such cute kids! i'm not quite sure how that will end up being, but i am excited to work with them. i hope you have enjoyed reading about my wonderful students! i have the best job!

my cute sister cammie playing the piano. ps, i trimmed her hair last night. it was fabulous!

testing

ew so right now in school, all of the sophmores have to take the ubsct test. ubsct stands for utah basic skills competency test. it's not hard, but it is very boring. they've changed the schedule around for these 3 days we will be testing and we start at 7:45 and go until 9:30. it's so long! almost 2 hours! yesterday we did the writing test and had to write a persuasive essay on "should the principal have to approve of topics for the school news". tell me that that isn't the dumbest prompt you have ever seen. i know. it's horrible. today was the math testing which was totally easy because they tested on basically an 8th grade level and alot of it was like "find the area" or "what's the probabilty that an orange ball will be drawn out of a bag with 3 orange and 6 blue?" ok i lied. i think that it was much easier than an 8th grade level. basically, if you don't pass the ubsct, you don't get to graduate. anyway, tomorrow is the reading section and then it is done! yes! well, the good thing is that because "school" technically doesn't start until 9:30 now, all of the classes are alot shorter. even better, math and physics are short twice! ya baby! ok, i know that my testing experience is totally facinated to everyone reading. sorry. well, you all should look at my slideshows! i'm so frustrated because it doesn't show on my actual blog. WHY?!?!??! but you can click the view icon to the far right and it will link you over to it. Janice, i am going to have to call you i think and have you help me.
tonight for yw the laurels and priests are sitting on a panel and talking to the 4 younger groups about modesty, dating, social situations etc. i'm so excited! my own lovely little sister cammie is awesome of course, but there are some kids in our ward who think they are studs. so we are going to set them straight. tee hee. how dorky am i that i am so excited about this and have been thinking about it constantly for approximately a week and a half.
fyi, the next time you all see me, i am going to be completly toned/ripped! my weight training class is so awesome! today we did 30 minutes straight of abs. ya baby!

painting my room

i have no idea why i can't make the slidshow be on my blog like everyone elses, but you can just click on view and see it.

sicker than a dog

ok, so i have no idea what that phrase means, but i am definetly sick. ew. i was in the car with my friend amanda last night and i said "i think i will be sick tomorrow." well, at 3:00 in the morning i totally realized that i really was sick and let me tell you, it was the most horrible night i've had for a long time. i really don't think i've ever felt that awful any other time i've been sick. so when it got to the point that i was bent over on the floor and couldn't move, i decided to ask my dad for a blessing. i couldn't stand up straight, so i kind of hobbled into my parents room and woke them up at 6:00. my dad gave me a really sweet blessing that my stomach would feel better and stuff and he also said a bunch of other stuff that i really needed to hear. like "heavenly father is trying to give you signs that your body needs a break and you need to start listening to them." oops. basically, the 1/2 marathon+ max out on squat + army workout + all the other weight lifting i've been doing in my class + minimal sleep this weekend = a very worn out body. and now i'm totally paying for it. so janice, i haven't run since the race, and it looks like that is a good thing because if i added running to that equation, who knows what i would be besides sick? anyway, what i really wanted to talk about was the fact that i love the priesthood so so so much. and i especially love that my dad hold and honors his priesthood so that i can go to him any time of the day or night and get help. it's such a testimony of my Heavenly Father's love for me and for each of us that he put his power on the earth so that we can be blessed by it. i've had so many experiences with the priesthood. at youth conference this past summer i got really sick and the bishop and ym president gave me an awesome blessing and what do you know? i fell asleep and when i woke up i was fine and able to participate fully the next day. i love the priesthood!
ok, it is snowing so hard right now. my family is all at stake conference, but mom didn't want me to come--which is fine because i still feel kind of gross--and i just look out the window and feel depressed. there's like 8 or 9 inches that have already fallen and it is still snowing SO SO hard! sigh. remember how much i hate winter? bleh.

i'm pathetically boring

Not very much has been going on lately. i've just been busy with school, and chillin with friends. this was an awesome week because it was only 4 days! yes! i love 4 day weeks. i had a math test on thursday which is never fun. also, i will have you all know that i got a 4.0 GPA this past term! yes! i'm actually kindof shocked because physics kicks my butt every day. this weekend has been pretty fun so far. on thursday i hung out at kenzi's house and sara's house for a while. it was really cool to meet sara's brother glen who just got back from his mission. yesterday we got to watch the baldwin kids which was so fun. they are so cute! last night i was going to go to the basketball game in spanish fork with some of my ward friends but we didn't go. we ended up at wal-mart just goofing around because we were really bored. then we did some donuts in the church parking lot and just chilled in jareds couch and looked at i spy books. yes, we are so cool. today i am going to go up to my friend lisa's house and help her get ready for sweethearts. no i didn't get asked. shocker. i'm really excited for lisa. she's going with the kid that she has liked FOREVER and so we were all very excited that he asked her. so that is my pathetically boring life as of late, but i like it.
