coming to an end

Everyone around me is wrapping up their summers, they have two weeks until they move out and start school. I have one month still. One month still to be working, doing what I've been doing which is not a whole lot.
Last night I got to hang out with almost my whole group of girlfriends that have been my friends since Jr. High. I really haven't seen most of them this entire summer. We had a total blast, we played games and made cake (then ate it), watched a movie, had a sleepover outside. It was so much fun, but it made me really sad. Because I haven't seen these girls all summer and now they are leaving and I feel left behind. I'm going to be stuck here for another month while they are starting their next adventures.
It was painful to hear about all of the fun things they have done this summer, and how they don't want this summer to end and they don't want to move out and start college, because I have not done much these past two months besides working. I desperately want summer to end because it has not been a good time. I cannot wait to start college because I feel like I will actually have something fulfilling in my life again.
I know I can try to make this last month of summer fun, but let's be honest. I work stupid hours which means that I just get left out. Yeah I am making a ton of money but is that really worth it? I don't know. I haven't done a ton of fun things up to this point, and now everyone is leaving so there's a pretty good chance that I will continue to be best friends with my laptop and Gilmore Girls until I leave for school the first weekend in September.

food thoughts

On this day of fasting, I will admit that I thought about food ALL day long. The cravings of today include but are not limited to:
Cheeseburger
Guacamole Bacon Swiss Burger
Guacamole and Chips
Snickers Bars
Beef
Steak (I HATE steak)
Lasagna
Green Beans
Avacados
Cheeseburger
French Fries
Fry Sauce
Milkshake
Smoothie
Tootsie Rolls
Ice Cream
Peaches
Cereal
Pretzels
Strawberries
This list could go on and on. The cravings I experience are honestly ridiculous sometimes. Thankfully, I somehow made it through church without passing out and satiated my craving for Lasagna and green beans. Let me tell you. Cold green beans have never tasted so incredible before.

assortment of nicknames

For most of my life, I've been known by one name: Amberly. Family members have called me different things, "Ber", "Berly" and "Am", but those are pretty much common nicknames. However, since I've been working in Provo for the past two months, I have collected an assortment of nicknames including, but not limited to; "Bamberly", "Bam Bam", "Dudette", "Bert", and "Hey Kid".
The joys of my job.

sappy stuff

I am a VERY emotional person. I cry a lot about random things. There are certain things that just get me all choked up, in a good way. Here are a few:
  • In the Sound Of Music, where all the children are so sad that Maria is gone so they start to sing her song, Favorite Things, and suddenly she starts singing with them and she's come back! A lump comes to my throat.
  • Actually, any time Julie Andrews sings. She's amazing.
  • Any time a play is about to start. I get so excited, and no matter what is happening, when those lights go down, I get chills and have to fight tears. Yeah, I feel way dumb.
  • The movie UP, that whole first sequence. So cute and sad.
  • When I babysit this kid in my home ward, he's two years old and I've watched him since he was a newborn. When he cuddles with me, and sings the ABC's. It's so freaking cute. I love that kid.
  • Hearing a baby cry.
  • Seeing a baby, and wanting so bad to hold it, but oh wait. I don't know the parents. Awkward.
  • Into the Woods.

That's all I can think of off the top of my head. But there are many more silly things that make me feel all cutesy inside. I like stuff like that, and I feel dumb for getting emotional at stuff like that. :) That's cool though.

a girls night. :)

Last night I had the greatest girl's night. We got all pretty and then went to the canal and took some really great pictures. :) Ok, I took the pictures. It was so much fun. I love all of these girls, it was so great to see them again.

it's official

I'm finally registered for college. The thing about BYU-Idaho that has been really annoying is how LONG they take for everything. It took forever to find out that I'd gotten in, I didn't find out about my scholarship for a hundred years after that, I'm definitely the last person out of my friends to sign up for classes, and the semester doesn't even start until at least two weeks later than any other college. But, that is all fine and worth it now that I have the stress of registering behind me. For my first semester of college I am taking:
Basic Musicianship--Monday-Friday at 7:45-8:45
Music and the Humanities--MWF at 10:15-11:15
Music Explorations--T&TH at 10:15-11:15
American Foundations--MWF at 11:30-12:30
Book of Mormon--T&TH at 11:30-12:30
Science Foundations--T&TH at 12:45-1:45
Introductory Vocal Methods--MW at 4:30-5:30
So the times of my classes are not ideal, I really wanted my first class to be at 9:00, but that class was full. And the Intoductory Vocal Methods class is ONLY at 4:30 which I thought was way weird. But it's ok, because I can use the time between my first and second class to work on homework, and on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays I will be done by 12:30 or 1:45. I'm so glad that I am finally registered, it makes college seem even more real. I wish that I was going sooner than six weeks from now. I need to go to college. But it's ok, I'll find something to keep me preoccupied until I finally go. :)

it is far too cold.

My work is so freezing, if I don't have a jacket, I shiver and shake all the time. So sometimes I wrap myself in bubble wrap.
Also I never ever wear make up or do my hair when I go to work. It's so not worth it when I wake up at 5:15.
