girls camp 2009

here's the thing. i really did take a few pictures with my dad's camera of this camp. not many, but i did take some. well, now my computer won't recognize the USB so no pictures. that is not ok with me. oh well.
we started very early tuesday morning and got on the road about an hour later than we planned. we got to moab at about 1:00. it was HOT. i loved it, but most other people are not half-reptile like i am. we set up tents, there was some drama which is totally routine. it was just too hot to get too excited about anything so practically everyone just vegged out in the lawn chairs in the shade for about 4 hours. we had dinner, then we became dinner for some very uninhibited mosquitos. when i say "some", i mean approximatly the same number as the sands of the sea. in between our dinner and the mosquitos dinner we hike the corona arch which was very cool. these are the only pictures i even took was at corona, but again, stupid computer. pretty much as soon as the sun went down everyone escaped to their tents so they could avoid the mosquitos. so we went to bed fairly early. my tent was all settled down by midnight which is very good for a girls camp you must admit.
wednesday was BY FAR the best day ever for me. i was very happy all day long. we went into arches national park at about 9:00am to hike the delicate arch. that is the one on the licsence plate. i LOVED that hike. remember how i am a hiking maniac? two fantastic hikes in two days was right up my ally. and the 101 degree weather felt AMAZING. loved it. after the hike we found a nice grassy park with lots of trees and shade and had lunch there and then the leaders decided to just stay there all afternoon. we really couldn't have another afternoon in our camp (did i mention that there was zero shade at our camp? bad news). so we did all of our certification and skits at this park. it was great. after dinner we took the first years for a snipe hunt. i have to say i LOVED the first years. they are so cute! they were such good sports about it and they were so funny. oh heck. what a blast.
thursday was not bad, but not as good as wed. we did this all day river trip so we were out of our camp by 7am. i was extremely SCARED OUT OF MY MIND to do this river trip but i tried very hard to have a good attitude. it ended up being very fun. the river was really mild and i only felt a very small amount of panic on the rapids which quickly dispelled because they were fun. when we got back to camp we took some naps and relaxed and then did secret sister which i was in charge of (never again by the way). then dinner, then testimony meeting. you know how those go. girls camp testimony meetings are really unique. i love them. it was wonderful.
today we got up, loaded up and headed out. i was home about 12:30.
i love girls camp. it was so fun and great and i'm so grateful for the opportunity. i got so close to the girls and my INCREDIBLE, AMAZING, SPECTACULAR leaders (that was for you valorie. i love ya). and most important, i got closer to christ and got to feel his spirit. here's to girls camp!

Amberly, you just left my house after delivering a frosty. You are such a doll and a great example to me. I learn a lot from you, and you were one of the reasons that made camp not just bearable but memorable. Love ya too!
