music

as most of you know, i LOVE music. i have played the piano since i was 5 and it is something that i have always loved. yesterday was alot of fun piano stuff for me. i bought the sheet music for that song that is on the new macbook commercial. you know, the one that is so skinny they pull it out of an envelope. it's called New Soul by yael naim. i tried to put a link to the youtube video but i couldn't. oh well.
my good friend whitney is also as obsessed with music and stuff as i am and we are basically at the same level of pianoness. her mom got this AMAZING duet that is a variation on chopsticks. it is so cool! so we played around with that for like 2 hours yesterday. oh. it's amazing. let me tell you. we are pretty good at it already, but not super good. when we get really good i will record us and put the video on here. it's the coolest duet we have ever done together. so that was my fun musical day yesterday!

i'm in love!

ok not really. but...... we got a new car!! obviously it's not new--it's a 1989 honda civic. but i honestly am so excited about it! well, i'm not sure if we have actually completed the transaction of buying the car and getting the title of whatever, but it has been parked by the side of my house for 2 days and i have driven it quite alot! it's not registered yet because the guy who we are buying it from can't find that title of whatever so i am being very careful. it's a stick shift which is something that i really wanted! yes i can drive stick and i am very good at it. i drove to lydia's for piano today and back. it was fantastic!




oh my. today in weight training we maxxed out on bench and squat again. we did this at the beginning of the term in like january. i was so excited to do it today because i knew that i was alot stronger and i thought i was going to be able to lift so much more. well last time my bench max was 85 (yes i have scrawny arms!) but guess how horrible this is. i lost 10 pounds! i could do 75 and then i tried 80 and i could not do it. i was so beyond frustrated. i tried over and over! but the good thing is is that i added 40 pounds to my squat max. mainly because i was scared of squatting when we first did it. anyway, i know how terribly interested you all are about my LAME and SMALL lifting abilites. :( i really am strong. i think...

car shopping

march 5 was my half birthday and also the day that i am legally allowed to drive other people. i was really excited! i had piano lessons with the hernandez kids that day so i got in my purple ponitac bonniville (actually my mom and i share it) and started driving. i got to the end of my street and my car died. i was not happy. so i had to miss piano that day and my parents took the car to the car man who said that it would just be better to get rid of it alltogether and buy a new car. my parents decided that they would let me pick out a car that they would buy as a "family car" until i bought it from them at the end of the summer. whoo hoo! so today was spent car shopping. not fun at all. i test drove a couple of cars and i am really leaning toward a black honda accord with new engine and transmission. my dad was confused as to why this guy is selling it for so cheap because he has put alot of money into it. so we will see what develops in the next couple of days. let me tell you. not having a car has not been good for amberly. i know it's totally not a big deal, but i feel like my freedom has been taken away almost! its horrible. i know. oh well. rest in peace purple car!


this morning i ran 8 miles in keeping on track with my half marathon training for the provo half on april 5. oh i still havne't registered for that. i sure need to do it! also i really need new shoes!!! i will definetly be getting those asap. mine are a year old and CRAPPY! it's very painful.

update on life

saturday i spent a good amount of the day cleaning up sticks in my backyard. we had our willows cut back and we got to clean them up. the pictures will explain it better than i can.






yesterday i had to speak in sacrament meeting about enduring together as a ward. it went ok. as far as talks can go. i also got to give the lesson in laurels. that went really good. i'm destined to be like aunt frances and be young women president. i really liked giving the lesson. it was on extended family relations which is a fabulous topic in my opinion. i talked alot about my extended family and the traditions we have and the fun things we do. it was awesome.
today was a very active day for me! i ran 7 miles and then went and played basketball with some of my friends for like an hour and then we jumped on the tramp and i can already tell that i am hardly going to be able to walk tomorrow. i love it.

random

i hate school. just thought you should know. just kidding, it's not THAT bad, but i seriously cannot wait to be graduated and done with it all!
i have always gotten straight A's. 4.0. it's always basically been expected of me. but sometimes i just get SO SICK OF IT! however, i know that it is worth it in the end because the better my grades are in my FREAKING HARD CLASSES like physics, the more likely it is that i will be able to get fabulous scholarships and get a good education.

so bishop court called me yesterday--i don't know why i answered the phone. duh! i am speaking in sacrament meeting on sunday. i'm pretty excited actually. the only crappy thing is that there will be lots and lots of people there because it is a missionary homecoming. thats the part i am excited for. it's my good friend's brother who i am speaking with. picture this. i am 5'3" so they are going to have to lower the podium alot right? tee hee. he is 6'6"... can you picture it? i can't wait! good times.

oh yes. it is our stake standards night in a couple of weeks and guess who is our speaker. john bytheway. that's right. i got asked to lead the music so i have to sit on the stand. maybe i will get to talk to him! woo hoo!

oh! i'm so excited! yesterday was my half birthday and i officially have had my drivers liscence for 6 months! i am allowed to legally drive people!
i really am going to put those pictures from sara's bday party on this dang blog sometime soon. probably like saturday. yes. 2 weeks later. wow. i'm a slacker. but you all still love me so that is ok!

in like a lion

it is the beginning of march and it absolutly has come in like a lion. all last week was so nice and warm and i was so happy because the snow had almost ALL MELTED! yes! i went running again on saturday, the 1st of march and it felt great. i had on my hideous green running shorts and tee shirt and was just glad that i wasn't wearing sweats! i think i did around 6 miles, maybe more. when i was about a mile away from my house, it started getting really blustery and cold. i picked up the pace so i could get home asap. in the course of 5-10 minutes, it went from kindof breezy to really windy. i kept on running through these little dust devil windy pockets or whatever and i would have to close my eyes to keep the dust out and it hurt my bare legs! when i was almost home i was seriously sprinting as hard as i could with the wind fully on my face. it felt like i was moving in slow motion! i finally got home and listened to the wind howl. that night it snowed AGAIN! i wanted to cry. but the good thing is that it was all melted by last night and today it is not very cold. at least i don't think so but i haven't been outside yet. it's professional development day so we have no school who hoo!

david archulleto

so i haven't really been watching american idol very much this season, but whenever i am at a friends house with tivo we always watch david archulleto. OH MY GOSH!!! i think i'll marry him. i watched the episode from tuesday feb 26 or whatever and i about died right there. i seriously had to fight to keep from bursting into tears in front of my friends. there is no competition! he's incredible! phew! the only thing is is that he really kind of looks like he's only 14 but i'm sure he will grow out of that. :)
i really want to post about sara's bday party a week ago because there are some fabulous pictures and it was so fun, but i still havne't gotten the pictures from elissa yet! that is what i get for not taking my own camera. have a good saturday!
